'Sounds of Pain...' introduced the duo's unique blend of agonizing doom metal and rural acoustic folk to the underground metal scene. The record is dominated by the sound of literal weeping, rain samples, and sparse acoustic guitar plucking, occasionally giving way to intensely heavy, slow-moving metal instrumentation. It creates a suffocatingly depressive and atmospheric listening experience that borders on the theatrical.
