Freeform Jazz

Marking a departure from the established jazzy hip-hop sound of his earlier work, 'Freeform Jazz' sees multi-instrumentalist Uyama Hiroto embrace a more experimental and improvisational approach rooted in spiritual jazz. The album moves beyond sample-heavy production, instead prioritizing live, organic instrumentation where Hiroto's own saxophone, clarinet, and keyboard performances intermingle with crisp percussion and emotive piano phrasing. This results in a diverse and intricate soundscape that, while still honoring the legacy of his collaborations with Nujabes, consciously pushes the boundaries of the genre into more adventurous territory.
