The Quiet Zone / The Pleasure Dome

by Van der Graaf

The Quiet Zone / The Pleasure Dome cover art

Truncating their name and radically altering their lineup to replace Hugh Banton and David Jackson with violin and bass, the band pursued a remarkably stripped-down, aggressive art-rock direction. The album balances highly poetic, philosophical progressive rock suites with surprisingly manic, new-wave-inflected energy and deeply passionate, complex vocal performances.
