Conceived as a highly stylized conceptual project alongside British producer Tot Taylor, this deeply cinematic debut effectively casts the Swedish vocalist as the glamorous protagonist of a Cold War espionage thriller. 'Shiver' blends chic, deadpan spoken-word delivery with highly orchestrated, lounge-inflected synthesizer pop and prominent orchestral sampling. The incredibly sophisticated, distinctly European aesthetic heavily predicted the sophisticated retro-lounge revival of the following decade.
