Seven Days in Sammystown
by Wall of Voodoo
Tasked with the incredibly difficult challenge of replacing charismatic founding frontman Stan Ridgway, the eccentric Los Angeles group enlisted Andy Prieboy on vocals for this third studio effort. 'Seven Days in Sammystown' retains the band's signature twangy, Ennio Morricone-inspired guitar work and frantic synthesizer pulses, now colored with a distinctly darker, almost gothic atmosphere. While it failed to match the commercial heights of their earlier work, the record remains a fascinating continuation of their cinematic new wave sound.
