Composed in response to the political unrest of 2020, the Virginia-based virtuoso completely revitalized the American fingerstyle guitar tradition with this fully instrumental release. Williams utilizes wildly unconventional techniques—including playing the guitar flat on her lap, utilizing tap shoes for rhythm, and incorporating the kalimba—to construct breathtakingly warm, flowing acoustic soundscapes. It earned universal acclaim for its profound technical innovation and emotional resonance.
