Following his instrumental debut, the Swedish guitar virtuoso transitioned into a more traditional band format with the addition of vocalist Jeff Scott Soto. 'Marching Out' solidified the blueprint for neoclassical metal, heavily incorporating Bach- and Paganini-inspired shredding techniques into driving, aggressive hard rock structures. The dizzying arpeggios and operatic grandeur of the record became a massive influence on the emerging power metal movement.
