Operating on the fringes of the British post-industrial scene, the secretive Newcastle collective constructed a deeply ritualistic and unsettling acoustic environment. The double album heavily relies on manipulated field recordings, primitive acoustic instrumentation, and droning tape loops, largely avoiding conventional synthesizers. It is considered a pioneering, foundational work in the development of dark and tribal ambient music.
