Alexander von Schlippenbach Trio

The Alexander von Schlippenbach Trio is a seminal and long-running group in European free jazz and improvised music. Formed in 1970, the classic lineup featured pianist *Alexander von Schlippenbach*, British saxophonist *Evan Parker*, and German drummer *Paul Lovens*. They established their feverish, telepathic, and entirely improvised approach with their 1972 debut album, 'Pakistani Pomade', released on the influential #FMP# label. The trio also formed the core of the larger Globe Unity Orchestra. Known for their intense and intellectually rigorous performances that bypass conventional jazz structures, the trio has been a cornerstone of the European avant-garde for over five decades, evolving its lineup in later years while maintaining its commitment to spontaneous creation.
