Amon Düül II

Formed in 1968 from a schism within Munich's Amon Düül artist commune, Amon Düül II emerged as the more musically structured and proficient faction. [1, 5] The band became a primary architect of the Krautrock movement, merging psychedelic rock with extended improvisation, avant-garde textures, and diverse folk influences. [1] Their compositions, particularly on foundational albums like *Phallus Dei* and *Yeti*, were defined by sprawling instrumental passages, dual drummers, and a synthesis of guitar, violin, and early electronics. [3, 6] Through a fluid lineup, the group evolved from raw, communal jams to more composed works, shaping the trajectory of progressive and experimental rock in Germany. [1, 9]
