André 3000

Born André Lauren Benjamin, André 3000 first gained prominence as one half of the pioneering Atlanta hip-hop duo OutKast. [1, 3] His work fundamentally shaped Southern rap through complex lyrical structures and a progressive fusion of funk, soul, and psychedelic rock. [6, 7, 11] Characterized by a distinctive vocal delivery and eccentric fashion, he expanded the aesthetic and thematic boundaries of the genre. After a celebrated run, including the commercially and critically successful The Love Below, he pivoted from rapping. [1] His later career is defined by select guest appearances and a focus on instrumental music, culminating in the ambient flute-based album New Blue Sun, which affirmed his evolution from rapper to a wide-ranging sonic explorer.
