Camel

Formed in Surrey, England, in 1971, Camel developed a singular identity within progressive rock by merging rock with elements of jazz, classical, and folk. [2, 7] Their sound is defined by melodic, often instrumental, compositions structured around the fluid, emotive guitar of Andrew Latimer and the layered keyboards of Peter Bardens. [2, 20] The group specialized in concept albums, such as the entirely instrumental *The Snow Goose* (1975), which showcased their capacity for narrative without lyrics. [2, 7] Though subject to numerous lineup changes, Latimer has remained the core member, guiding the band's evolution while preserving its atmospheric and symphonic signature, influencing the neo-progressive scene.
