Carlos Alomar

Carlos Alomar

A Puerto Rican guitarist, composer, and arranger, Carlos Alomar is defined by his decades-long collaboration with David Bowie. Beginning in 1974, he became a core musical partner, co-writing the funk-infused hit "Fame" and anchoring the rhythm section through Bowie's evolving stylistic periods, from the 'plastic soul' of *Young Americans* to the experimental Berlin Trilogy. His sharp, rhythmic, and adaptable guitar work, honed from early experience in the Apollo Theater house band and with James Brown, provided a pivotal funk and R&B foundation for rock, influencing countless musicians through his work with Iggy Pop, Paul McCartney, and others.
