Charles Lloyd

A tenor saxophonist and flutist, Charles Lloyd is a spiritual seeker whose blend of post-bop, modal jazz, and world music found massive crossover success. His classic 1960s quartet, featuring a young *Keith Jarrett* and *Jack DeJohnette*, became the first jazz group to play at the Fillmore, and their 1966 album 'Forest Flower' became a surprise million-seller. After a decade of seclusion, he returned in the 1980s, embarking on a long, fruitful period with #ECM Records# that refined his sound. Now recording for #Blue Note Records#, he continues to explore new sonic territories with ensembles like The Marvels and Sangam.
