Chris Hillman

An architect of American country rock, Chris Hillman first gained prominence as the original bassist for The Byrds, where his melodic playing anchored their pioneering folk-rock sound. [1, 14] A gifted multi-instrumentalist, he transitioned from bluegrass mandolin to become a foundational songwriter and vocalist within the group.
