Effluence

Effluence is the experimental one-man death metal project of multi-instrumentalist Matt Stephens. The project is known for coining the term "free death" to describe its chaotic and largely improvisational sound, which merges the intensity of brutal death metal and goregrind with the unpredictability of free jazz and noise. Effluence gained significant underground attention with the release of the debut album 'Psychocephalic Spawning' in 2021. The music is noted for its extreme technicality and avant-garde approach, setting it apart from its contemporaries and drawing comparisons to acts like *John Zorn's* *Naked City* and *Encenathrakh*.
