Fairuz

Fairuz

Fairuz is a Lebanese singer and actress, an icon of modern Arab music, and one of the best-selling Middle-Eastern artists of all time. Born Nouhad Haddad, she rose to prominence in the 1950s through her collaboration with the composers *Assi* and *Mansour Rahbani*, who crafted a unique musical style for her that blended traditional Arab sounds with Western influences. Her first major hit, 'Itab', established her as a star. Throughout her long career, which includes seminal albums like 'Andaloussiyat' and 'Jerusalem in My Heart', her voice became a symbol of national unity in Lebanon, particularly for her decision to remain in the country and not perform there during its civil war.
