A Memphis-born drummer, Gene Chrisman was the rhythmic anchor of the American Sound Studio house band, The Memphis Boys. [1] His solid, crisp, and adaptable drumming style was a foundational element for a vast catalog of hit recordings in the late 1960s and early 1970s. [3, 7] Chrisman's versatile performances crossed soul, rock, and country, powering landmark tracks for artists such as Elvis Presley, Dusty Springfield, and Neil Diamond.
