Holger Czukay

Holger Czukay was a German musician, composer, and record producer, best known as a co-founder of the influential krautrock band Can. A student of composer *Karlheinz Stockhausen*, Czukay applied avant-garde principles to rock music, serving as Can's bassist, engineer, and editor. After leaving Can in 1977, he embarked on a solo career that further explored ambient textures and pioneering sampling techniques, notably on his acclaimed 1979 album 'Movies'. He utilized tape splicing and shortwave radio broadcasts to create unique sonic collages, a method he called "radio painting." His innovative work and collaborations with artists like *Brian Eno*, *David Sylvian*, and *Jah Wobble* cemented his legacy as a crucial link between experimental and popular music.
