Ian Dury

Ian Dury

Ian Dury was an English singer, songwriter, and actor who became a pivotal figure of the punk and new wave eras. Famed for his wit, lyrical wordplay, and distinctive Cockney-accented delivery, he fronted the bands Kilburn & the High Roads and, most famously, Ian Dury and the Blockheads. After signing with #Stiff# Records, he released his classic debut album 'New Boots and Panties!!' in 1977. With the Blockheads, he scored major hits including "What a Waste", "Reasons to Be Cheerful, Part 3", and the UK number-one "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick", blending pub rock, funk, and music hall influences.
