John Guerin

John Guerin

John Guerin was a prolific American drummer and session musician who became a central figure in the Los Angeles studio scene of the 1960s and 1970s. [1, 7] His drumming, characterized by a unique blend of jazz fluidity and rock precision, anchored countless recordings across genres. [3] Guerin co-founded the jazz-rock group The L.A. Express, which famously collaborated with Joni Mitchell on her seminal albums, including "Court and Spark". [1, 2] His distinctive style, which often incorporated displaced accents and complex time signatures, shaped the sound of hallmark records by artists like Frank Zappa and established a new benchmark for studio musicianship.
