Junior Wells

Junior Wells

An essential architect of the amplified Chicago blues sound, Junior Wells was a vocalist and harmonica player whose career began in Muddy Waters's band in 1952. [2, 6] He developed a bold, percussive harmonica style, merging the influence of Sonny Boy Williamson II with the syncopated attack of funk, which defined his work on the seminal 1965 album *Hoodoo Man Blues*. [1, 4] This recording, a cornerstone of the genre, showcased his dynamic interplay with guitarist Buddy Guy, a partnership that would span decades and introduce electric blues to global rock audiences. [2, 13] Wells's impassioned vocals and commanding showmanship cemented his role as a primary influence on modern blues and rock. [17]
