Legião Urbana

Legião Urbana

Legião Urbana was a Brazilian rock band formed in the Brasília in 1982, led by singer, songwriter, and poet Renato Russo. Emerging from the country’s post-dictatorship cultural awakening, the group became one of Brazil’s most influential and beloved acts, blending introspective lyrics with elements of post-punk and folk rock. Their songs explored themes of political disillusionment, youthful idealism, love, and existential angst, resonating deeply with a generation in transition. Across a decade of success, they released landmark albums and anthems that remain staples of Brazilian music, cementing their legacy before disbanding following Russo’s death in 1996.
