Biography
Parliament was an American funk band led by George Clinton and a flagship act of his P-Funk collective, grown out of the Plainfield, New Jersey doo-wop group *The Parliaments*. Where sister act *Funkadelic* pursued psychedelic rock, Parliament built a polished, horn-led funk around Clinton's Afrofuturist mythology, scoring with 'Mothership Connection' (1975), 'Funkentelechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome' (1977) and the number one R&B single 'Flash Light'. The band ceased recording in 1980 and returned in 2018 with 'Medicaid Fraud Dogg'.
