Biography
Formed in Sheffield in 1978, Pulp spent over a decade evolving its sound before becoming definitive figures of the 1990s Britpop movement. Anchored by frontman Jarvis Cocker's narrative-driven lyrics, the band's work merges glam-rock and disco influences with detailed social commentary on British class, sex, and culture. Albums like *His 'n' Hers* and the Mercury Prize-winning *Different Class* captured this distinctive style, defined by sharp observations and a pop sensibility. Through periods of hiatus and reunion, the band's catalog remains a significant touchstone for its literary approach to songwriting and its articulate portrait of English life.
