Rudolph Isley was an American singer and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the iconic family group The Isley Brothers. As a key vocalist and co-writer, he was integral to the group's evolution from gospel and doo-wop to their pioneering work in R&B, funk, and soul. His contributions are embedded in timeless hits like "Shout," "It's Your Thing," and "That Lady." Known for his flamboyant stage presence, often sporting hats and carrying a cane, Isley helped define the group's visual identity during their peak in the 1970s. He recorded with the group for labels like #RCA Victor#, #Motown#, and their own #T-Neck Records#. He left the music industry in 1989 to become a Christian minister but was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 with his brothers.
