Rufus Thomas

Rufus Thomas was a multifaceted American entertainer, celebrated as a rhythm-and-blues, funk, and soul singer, songwriter, dancer, and comedian. Known as "The World's Oldest Teenager," he was a pivotal figure in the Memphis music scene for decades. After starting his career in vaudeville, he became a popular DJ at WDIA. He recorded for #Sun Records# and #Chess Records# before finding major success at #Stax Records# in the 1960s and 70s. He is best remembered for his string of novelty dance hits, including 'Walking the Dog', 'Do the Funky Chicken', and '(Do the) Push and Pull', which cemented his legacy as a master showman and the "Crown Prince of Dance."
