Sid Vicious

Sid Vicious

Sid Vicious, born John Simon Ritchie, was the archetypal figure of the punk rock movement, gaining infamy as the bassist for the Sex Pistols. Though not known for his musical proficiency, his nihilistic attitude, rebellious persona, and self-destructive tendencies made him a punk icon. He replaced *Glen Matlock* in 1977, joining at the peak of the band's notoriety with #Virgin# Records. His tumultuous relationship with Nancy Spungen and his brief, chaotic solo career, which produced the posthumous album 'Sid Sings', defined his final years. Vicious's life, marked by addiction, ended with a heroin overdose at age 21, cementing his legendary and tragic status.
