Talk Talk

Talk Talk

Formed in London in 1981, Talk Talk initially emerged within the synth-pop and New Wave movements. The group systematically dismantled this commercial sound, beginning a stark artistic evolution with the album 'The Colour of Spring' (1986), which integrated more organic and expansive arrangements. [1, 4] Their subsequent work on 'Spirit of Eden' (1988) and 'Laughing Stock' (1991) abandoned conventional song structures for a minimalist style informed by jazz, classical music, and improvisation. [2, 4] This radical shift, built on texture and silence, established a sonic blueprint that was foundational to the development of post-rock, cementing the band's influence far beyond its own commercial lifespan.
