Talking Heads

Formed in New York City in 1975, Talking Heads emerged from the punk scene to become architects of new wave and post-punk. [1, 3] The band merged art-rock with funk, avant-garde concepts, and world music, notably the polyrhythms of West African music. [1, 12, 16] This synthesis was refined through a pivotal collaboration with producer Brian Eno on a trilogy of acclaimed albums. [14] Characterized by anxious, intellectual lyrics and rhythmic complexity, their work expanded the vocabulary of rock music, creating a lasting template for alternative and indie artists that followed.
