Tangerine Dream

Tangerine Dream

Founded by Edgar Froese in 1967, Tangerine Dream originated in West Berlin’s experimental music scene, evolving from psychedelic rock into a principal architect of the Berlin School. [2, 3] The group pioneered a sound defined by layered synthesizers, hypnotic sequencer patterns, and atmospheric textures, particularly during their influential mid-1970s period with Virgin Records. [3, 7] This electronic vocabulary was built on albums like Phaedra and Rubycon, establishing a framework for ambient music and electronica. [3, 7] Their extensive work composing over 60 film soundtracks, including for films like 'Sorcerer' and 'Risky Business', further cemented their influence, shaping the conventions of electronic scoring for a global audience.
