Weird Nightmare

Weird Nightmare is the solo project of Alex Edkins, best known as the guitarist and vocalist for Canadian noise-rock band *METZ*. The project showcases Edkins' love for raw, sugary, distorted pop, blending the bite of his main band with a more pronounced melodic sweetness. Drawing inspiration from bands like *Guided By Voices*, *Big Star*, and *Sugar*, Weird Nightmare combines fuzzed-out power-pop with garage rock energy. The project began with home recordings during the pandemic, with some songs dating back to 2013, and has since evolved, releasing a self-titled debut album in 2022 and a follow-up, 'Hoopla', on the #Sub Pop# label, further exploring hook-filled, high-energy rock.
