Formed in Chicago in 1994 from the remaining members of alt-country pioneers *Uncle Tupelo*, Wilco evolved from its roots rock origins into a critically acclaimed American rock band. Led by songwriter Jeff Tweedy, the group's sonic palette expanded significantly, incorporating experimental rock, pop, and avant-garde elements, particularly on the landmark album *Yankee Hotel Foxtrot*.
