Originally released as two highly limited vinyl EPs in 1995, 'Hangable Auto Bulb' captures Richard D. James violently deconstructing jungle and drum and bass rhythms. Under his AFX alias, he introduced rapidly shifting, hyper-complex breakbeats paired with bizarre samples, essentially inventing the drill and bass microgenre. The collection is a frenetic, technically dazzling bridge between his earlier ambient works and the chaotic programming of his late-90s output.
