Few Traces
by Mark Renner
A sweeping retrospective spanning 1982 to 1990, this compilation documents the pastoral, highly idiosyncratic post-punk and minimal wave of the Baltimore-based visual artist. Utilizing cheap drum machines, acoustic guitars, and icy synthesizer leads, the tracks balance the gothic chill of early 4AD records with a distinct, folky warmth. The archival release reintroduced his solitary, deeply atmospheric catalog to a contemporary audience.
