Chips From the Chocolate Fireball
by The Dukes of Stratosphear
Operating under a pseudonym, the members of XTC released two highly secretive, loving pastiches of 1960s psychedelic rock, which were later collected entirely on 'Chips From the Chocolate Fireball'. Utilizing vintage recording equipment and an abundance of whimsical studio trickery, the project playfully paid homage to the Byrds and early Pink Floyd. Ironically, the side project's melodic brilliance briefly outsold XTC's contemporary main studio albums, securing its status as a cult classic.
