This compilation highlights the impossibly cool, cinematic jazz compositions of the legendary Algerian film composer, Ahmed Malek. Synthesizing traditional Maghrebi scales with European lounge music, Bossa Nova, and American jazz-funk, the tracks served as the soundtrack for a rapidly modernizing, post-independence Algeria in the 1970s. The release rightfully elevated his status to that of the 'Ennio Morricone of North Africa'.
