A surprising and beautiful departure from the fiery, high-energy music of his bands Sons of Kemet and The Comet Is Coming. 'Afrikan Culture' is a meditative and atmospheric EP that finds Shabaka Hutchings setting aside his tenor saxophone to focus on a variety of flutes, including the Japanese shakuhachi. The music is sparse, beautiful, and deeply spiritual, built on layers of woodwinds, percussion, and subtle electronic textures.
