Recorded as a secretive, playful side-project by the members of XTC, this release serves as an immaculate pastiche of mid-1960s British psychedelia. Adopting fake personas and utilizing vintage studio equipment, the band flawlessly recreated the swirling Mellotrons and fuzz guitars of their childhood heroes. In a twist of irony, it initially sold more copies in the UK than their primary band's concurrent main studio album.
