Released before legal trademark issues forced the Bay Area collective to change their name to Whirr, this six-track debut heavily codified the modern shoegaze revival. The record buries beautifully melancholic, hushed pop vocals beneath an overwhelmingly dense, distorted wall of 1990s-indebted guitar fuzz.
