Afro-Rock

Afro-rock is a cross-cultural form that emerged in the late 1960s, merging the harmonic and instrumental frameworks of Western psychedelic and progressive rock with West African rhythmic traditions. Its sonic signature is defined by the juxtaposition of fuzzed electric guitars, prominent organ, and extended solos against dense, polyrhythmic percussion, syncopated basslines derived from highlife and Fújì, and call-and-response vocal structures.
