Ambient

Originating from the conceptual work of *Brian Eno*, who coined the term for his 1978 album "Ambient 1: Music for Airports", Ambient music prioritizes texture and atmosphere over traditional melodic or rhythmic structures. It employs synthesizers, processed acoustic instruments, and field recordings to construct sonic environments. The form is designed to be "as ignorable as it is interesting," capable of subtly altering the perception of a space or rewarding focused, deep listening. It evolved from experimental and minimalist roots, shaping sound design in film, art installations, and electronic music subcultures while maintaining a presence in both avant-garde and commercial spheres.
