Breakcore

Breakcore

Breakcore emerges from late-1990s electronic music as a chaotic offshoot of jungle, drum and bass, and digital hardcore. Its sonic identity is forged through the high-velocity collision of heavily processed and re-sequenced drum breaks, particularly the Amen break, with abrasive synth textures, distorted kick drums, and a collage of disparate audio samples. The genre's ethos champions digital deconstruction and formal complexity, often rejecting conventional song structures and commercial appeal. Its aggressive and unpredictable nature established a lasting framework for extreme electronic music, influencing subsequent developments.
