Sass

Originating from late-1990s post-hardcore and screamo scenes, sass (or sasscore) is a subgenre defined by its fusion of chaotic aggression with a flamboyant, dance-oriented sensibility. It is sonically characterized by spastic, stop-start song structures, angular and dissonant guitar work, complex syncopated drumming, and uniquely effeminate, high-pitched vocal styles that range from shrieks to lisped spoken word. While never achieving mainstream commercial success, the style was cultivated by labels like #Three One G# and #GSL#, shaping a theatrical and confrontational niche within hardcore punk that continues to influence modern metalcore and noise rock artists.
