Originally given to the funk band Mazarati before Prince reclaimed it, the arrangement is incredibly stripped-down, completely omitting a traditional bassline. Built on a programmed LinnDrum beat, acoustic guitar chops, and a heavily gated vocal performance, it became an undeniable dancefloor staple. The track earned a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance.
