God Save the Queen cover art

Released intentionally to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee, this track is arguably the most famous protest song in British history. The BBC and the Independent Broadcasting Authority famously banned the song, and its suspicious stalling at number two on the UK charts led to widespread accusations of chart manipulation to prevent a royal insult from taking the top spot. The Jamie Reid-designed cover art, featuring the Queen with her eyes and mouth obscured by ransom-note text, became an iconic image of the punk movement.
