Lyrics for Wedding in Brooklyn

"Oh, lucky you since I'm here now," says Detroit As he comes tumbling up on stage like an asteroid Standing next to Skye, he's like an eclipse In his deconstructed wedding dress The crowd cheers for the couple, some are peers Some are their lovers, they chug beers Kisses are thrown As the officiant who might not be an officiant Begins the demolition of marriage as it's known She says "We're gathered here in this bar tonight To watch these two make a huge mistake If anybody objects to this Speak now or shut your face" (Any objections to my kissing the bride?) I know that it's a performance, but poor Skye Feels like they're not starring in the movie of their life Silent as a cat that's gone to hide They stand there and politely smile It slowly dawns on me that Skye really Wants this to be something real and not an art school joke "You are so lonely" I think of Skye, but only to realize that we both Carry the same load "We are gathered here in this bar tonight To watch these two make a huge mistake If anybody objects to this Speak now or shut your face" So I raise my hand, and everyone in the crowd looks at me, annoyed But Skye, I want you to find the strength To stand up against Detroit
