Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as Natalie Merchant's final performance with the group, this lush acoustic session perfectly encapsulates the band's literate, melancholic jangle pop. Featuring a prominent string section and a celebrated cover of Patti Smith's 'Because the Night', the recording became the most commercially successful release of their career. It stands as an elegant, definitive farewell for the influential college rock ensemble.
