Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released when Aaliyah was only 15, her remarkably confident debut album heavily shaped the emerging aesthetic of 1990s hip-hop soul. Entirely written and produced by R. Kelly鈥攁 partnership that later resulted in extreme controversy鈥攖he record expertly blends smooth, street-savvy R&B vocals with prominent boom-bap production.
