On their sophomore album '2nd', the band moved away from the overt ethnic influences of their debut toward a more refined and atmospheric form of space rock. The record is built on long-form, mostly instrumental improvisations, blending the dual-guitar interplay of Lutz Ulbrich and Stefan Diez with Michael Hoenig's synthesizer and Mellotron textures. This results in a sound that alternates between relaxed, melodic jamming with a subtle jazz feel and more experimental, ambient electronic passages, cementing the album's place as a key work in the Krautrock genre.
